CoT Chairwoman Natalia Oropeza in Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung

Excellent to see our Chairperson, Natalia Oropeza, discussing the important work of the Charter of Trust in this weekend’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. Cyber threats present significant challenges to businesses, but “cyberattacks don't stop at the gates of companies" and can impact on the public sector and critical infrastructure.

Big problems require big solutions. Solutions which can only be realised through collaboration and the constant pooling of expertise from across the globe. Pragmatic cooperation and efforts to raise the importance of ever-more sophisticated cyber threats in every sector are fundamental to securing a safer digital future.

MSC 2024 - CoT thematic Dinner

The Charter of Trust had the pleasure of hosting a high-level thematic dinner at the Munich Security Conference on "Processing Power: The Impact of Cyber and Cutting-Edge Technology on International Security".

We are grateful to European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas and US Deputy National Security Advisor Anne Neuberg for their participation and insightful exchanges.

Addressing today’s complex Hashtag#cyber challenges requires close collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, governments, and international organizations. The event brought together high-level participants from these spheres to explore the rapidly evolving threat landscape and how:

🔑 Cybersecurity is dependent on credibility and about deploying trustworthy, cutting-edge technology to stay ahead of threat actors.
🤝 Public-private cooperation is key to ensure stable and protected critical infrastructure
👥 The human aspect of cybersecurity shouldn’t be overlooked – both in terms of the potential for widespread disruption to society and the skilled talent needed to combat growing threats
🌐 Transatlantic collaboration on best-practice and upcoming regulation, such as the Trust Mark program, is crucial.

Thank you to all of our Partners and participants for the opportunity to foster collaboration and dialogue as we look to build a more secure digital world together.

Net(work) Gains: Aligning Transatlantic Tech Governance

Excellent to hear Kurt Sievers, President and CEO of NXP Semiconductors and Partner of the Hashtag#CharterofTrust speak in a Hashtag#MSC panel discussion on “Net(work) Gains: Aligning Transatlantic Tech Governance”.

It was moderated by Alejandro Mayorkas together with Margrethe Vestager, Alex Karp and Safra C. to discuss the roles of governments in regulating the booming tech sector and the use of fast emerging tech such as Hashtag#AI. Does regulation mean restrictions? How can we ensure effective regulation and implementation while fostering innovation?

“Every consumer and user of AI wants to have a certain level of trust that is rooted in security, safety and transparency. Ensuring the use of trusted technologies will in turn help support the competitiveness of the industry. As such, regulations must provide a positive ground for building trust while at the same time fostering innovation. To that end global Hashtag#cybersecurity industry players founded the Charter of Trust, which has become a trademark for trust and a key partner to regulators, businesses and consumers by providing guidance on how to best secure services, systems, products and supply chains as a whole”.

Charter of Trust Position on the EU Cyber Resilience Act

The Charter of Trust welcomes the Commission’s proposal for horizontal rules introducing cybersecurity requirements for connected products. We believe that improving products and software development practices and transparency will benefit the entire cybersecurity ecosystem. Policymakers should, however, ensure seamless and clear application between the CRA and other product-related and cybersecurity legislations to provide more legal certainty to businesses across the supply chain.
